To extend a placement with the same site and supervisor, go to Site Placement, select Extend Placement, complete paperwork, and submit for approval.

Extending Your Placement with the Same Site and Supervisor

IMPORTANT NOTE:
These steps apply only to students whose programs have placement extension processes. If your program does not have this process, contact your program administrator to request one.

Steps to Extend Your Placement

Go to your Site Placement workspace.
Click the three dots next to the site you wish to extend OR open the Supervisor Details tile and click the arrow to the far right of your supervisor’s name.
Select Extend Placement with Supervisor. You will be directed to the extension process.
Complete all required paperwork and submit it for approval.
- Indicate the new end date of your association with the site and supervisor. This is the date after which you will no longer be working at the site with this supervisor.
Once approved, your association rule will update to the new end date.
- After this date, the site will no longer be active for you.

NOTE:
If you are switching to a new supervisor, click Add Supervisor within the Supervisor step of the placement process before completing the extension process.

If Your Site or Supervisor Has Already Expired

Placement extensions only work for active placements and supervisor associations. If your site or supervisor association has already expired, you will not be able to use the extension process.

In this case, you should either:

Start a new placement with the same site/supervisor, or
Reach out to your Program Administrator to request that the dates of your expired placement be updated to a current placement.

Site: The location where students complete their field experience.
Site Supervisor: The professional overseeing the student’s field experience at the external site.
Task Supervisor: An individual providing on-site supervision, but not serving as the primary supervisor.
