Story Archiving

Note: This feature is only available from SharpCloud v9.1.0116 and onwards.

 

Overview

Story archiving enables you to create a fixed snapshot of a story at a specific point in time, preserving a historical version that cannot be modified. This allows for effective comparison between past and current versions of a story.

Note: Archiving a story within a connected Solution will create a standalone archived version that sits outside the Solution structure. As a result, some functionality may be limited.

 

Creating an Archived Version of a Story

To create an archived story, you must have owner permissions on the story.

• Creators can view what archives have been made but will not be able to create any archived versions.

1. Open the Story Setup menu and navigate to the History tab.
2. Click the “Archive” button as highlighted below and enter a name for your archived story in the dialog box that appears.

3. Once the archive is processed, you will receive an email informing you that the story is ready to view.

4. A Read-Only archive copy of the story is now available for viewing.
   1. If you wish to delete an archive version of a story, you can perform the delete story function from within the archived copy.

Viewing the Archived Story

An archived story is read-only and cannot be modified. However, you can still view its configuration, including the story setup, data grid, and view settings.

An icon indicates that a story is archived, as shown above. This icon is also displayed on the story thumbnail in the Dashboard.

Within an archived story, you can still access the History tab to view other archived versions or return to the latest version of the story.

What is not included in an archived story?

• Activity Feed and Comments are not carried over into the archive. These remain available in the original active story, where they can be reviewed over time.

• Solution-specific functionality is not supported, as the archived story is no longer connected to the original Solution structure.
