FAQ: Converting a Standalone or Trial License to an Enterprise Network Client

Note: New Enterprise Network licenses are no longer offered. This article applies only to customers who already have Enterprise Network licenses.

Question

Can I convert a trial or an activated standalone copy of DTS to an Enterprise Network client?

Answer

Yes. You can convert a trial or standalone installation to an Enterprise Network client using your Enterprise Network Activation ID.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

• The server name

• The port number of your license server

• The Activation ID for your Enterprise Network license

Procedure

1. On the user’s workstation, log in to Windows as a full administrator.

2. Launch the DTS software.

3. If License Manager does not open automatically, select Help » License Manager.

4. If the workstation currently has an activated standalone license:

   • Click Deactivate and follow the on-screen prompts.

5. Click Activate.

6. Enter your Enterprise Network Activation ID.

7. When prompted, enter the server name and port number.

8. Click OK.

If a network license is available on the specified server, the software will activate immediately. License Manager will indicate that the license type is Enterprise.

Reminder

If the user later receives a new computer or the software is reassigned to another user, you must deactivate the license on this workstation using License Manager. This returns the license to the pool of available licenses on the server.
