Determining the Execution Order of Sub-Chapters

Overview

Use this method when you have a set of sub-chapters that need to be displayed in a specific order.

This implementation can also be used to display all sub-chapters, or only a selected number of them, in a random order. For example, you can configure the survey to display only 3 out of 5 available sub-chapters.

The attached sample survey demonstrates how to implement this logic.

Important Notes

In the sample survey, review the following:

• The functions defined in the Advanced Script.

• The survey's General Jump Rule.

The survey's General Jump Rule calls the following function, which is defined in the Advanced Script:

FixJumpOrder(inStartQ, inOrder, inFinalChapter, inRandomize, inMaxChaptersToDisplay, inPromptSelection)

This function receives six parameters:

• inStartQ – The question to start with.

• inOrder – A string containing the chapter names in the desired order. The names must match the chapter names exactly as they appear in the survey.

• inFinalChapter – The name of the final chapter. This must match the chapter name exactly as it appears in the survey.

• inRandomize – A Boolean value indicating whether the chapters should be randomized.

• inMaxChaptersToDisplay – The number of chapters to display.

• inPromptSelection – A Boolean value indicating whether to display the selected chapters and their order. Set this to true while testing.
