SharpCloud Directories

Overview

Private directories in SharpCloud allow you to share stories with a wider audience while maintaining control over access and publishing. They are ideal for gathering feedback, encouraging collaboration, and organizing content for specific groups of users.

What is a Directory?

A directory acts as an access-controlled noticeboard where users can view a collection of published stories.

Key concepts:

• Directories control who can view stories using email-based access
• Specific teams can be assigned as authorised publishers
• Directories can be linked to a domain for automatic access
• Users can belong to multiple directories

Directories are accessible via the Teams and Directories tab on the dashboard.

Publishing and Structure

• A story can only belong to one team
• A team can publish to multiple directories
• This allows a single story to appear in multiple directories

Publishers can be:

• Teams (recommended for flexibility and control)
• Directory Administrators or Members

Directory Roles and Permissions

There are two roles:

• Members: Can view stories
• Administrators: Manage users, publishers, and directory settings

Key behaviors:

• Adding a member grants implicit view access to all published stories
• Removing a member removes their directory access and implicit permissions
• Publishing a story gives all directory members implicit view access
• Unpublishing a story removes access for users who only had implicit permissions

Users with explicit sharing permissions retain access regardless of directory changes.

Directory Operations

Directory operations include:

• Adding and removing members
• Managing publishing permissions
• Publishing and unpublishing stories
• Controlling access through teams or domains

These operations ensure that access and visibility are controlled while maintaining flexibility for collaboration.
