Installing and Configuring RISK Platform Server Manager

Overview

Full administrative rights are required to set up the server. There is no need to uninstall an older 6.x or 7.x version before installing the latest version.

System Requirements

The server software can run on Microsoft Windows 7 or higher.

A dedicated machine is not required, as the license service only needs to listen for license requests from clients.

Important note: From version 8.6 (August 2024), network servers can only support a maximum of one license type.

If you have multiple license types, you will need a separate server for each license.

• Example: If you have a 5-user @RISK Professional license and a 3-user @RISK Industrial license:
  • Server A can host all 5 @RISK Professional licenses
  • Server B would host the 3 @RISK Industrial licenses.

Server Manager 8.x must not be installed on a server with 1.x or 4.x licenses.

Client Versions Supported

1. Any Server Manager 8.x will support licenses and any client software 6.x–8.x
   1. This includes 8.x versions later than the Server Manager version.
2. It is not necessary to upgrade client software and server software at the same time, as long as the client software version is within 6.x–8.x.

Installation Steps

1. Ensure you have full administrative rights on the server machine.

2. Download the latest Server Manager installer from the myLumivero licensing portal. Note, the installers will only be made visible if the account either owns or is assigned a valid subscription. Installers can also be issued by the customer support team.

3. Run the installer and follow the prompts. Existing installations do not need to be removed.

4. Confirm the server meets system requirements and network accessibility for client machines.

5. Configure the license type according to your setup, ensuring each license type has its own server if required (version 8.6+).

6. Verify that the server is listening for license requests from client machines.

• Client software does not need to match the server version exactly, as long as it falls within supported versions.
