Smart Zones

Note: Smart Zones are available in SharpCloud v9.7.0201 and later

Overview

Smart Zones enable users to define areas within a view (typically a wall view) that automatically assign a specific attribute or category value to items placed within them. The assigned value can be configured for any relevant attribute or category in the story.

This feature is particularly useful during workshops, where a canvas can be created using Smart Zones with predefined property values. As items are placed into each zone, values are automatically assigned, ensuring that workshop outputs are consistently reflected across other views in SharpCloud.

Creating Smart Zones

Smart Zones are widgets with specific properties enabled to function as zones. To create one, first add a new widget using the Widgets menu on the right-hand toolbar.

Once a widget is created, there are 2 key settings to be configured:

1. The widget must exist in the Background Layer:

2. Once the widget is in the background layer, the following can be associated with a smart zone.
   1. an attribute/category
   2. a corresponding value
3. The options will appear at the bottom of the dialog window:

Once a property and its chosen label value are selected any item that is placed within that Smart Zone will be assigned that attribute label value.

The highlight colour adds a visual indicator to the widget by displaying an internal border when an item is dragged into the Smart Zone.

This provides clear feedback that the Smart Zone is active.

Layering Smart Zones

Two scenarios apply when Smart Zones overlap:

• If both Smart Zones use the same attribute, the value from the top zone is applied to the item.

• If the Smart Zones use different attributes, both values are applied to the item.

To re-order the layers of widgets, use the settings below:
