Wall View

Note: Some aspects of this feature are version dependant.

The Wall view can be thought of as a flexible canvas, enabling users to freely position items anywhere to suit their specific requirements.

Wall Views provide a flexible, unstructured canvas that allows users to freely arrange items and widgets. They are ideal for creating dashboards or landing pages, enabling you to design layouts without the constraints of axes or predefined structures. By filtering out all items, a clean canvas can be used to build fully customised landing pages.

Key Capabilities

• Create dashboards and landing pages using widgets
• Freely position content without structural limitations
• Filter out items to design clean, presentation-ready views

Wall View Attributes

Wall View Attributes are required for each Wall View and are used specifically to support item positioning within the view.

Important:

• Available in SharpCloud v9.2.0215 and later
• A Wall View cannot function without a Wall View Attribute
• If none exist, SharpCloud will prompt you to create one automatically when adding a Wall View

Creating a Wall View Attribute

1. Go to Story Setup > Items > Attributes in Create Mode
2. Create a new attribute
3. Select Wall as the attribute type

In the View Setup, you can use the “Add new/copy existing attribute” button.

This will generate a new dialog box where you can choose to:

1.  Copy the existing attribute
2. Create an entirely new wall attribute as shown below.

View Setup

For each Wall attribute created, SharpCloud retains the position of items placed on any Wall View that uses that attribute. This enables the same layout to be reused across multiple Wall Views by applying the same Wall attribute, effectively synchronising item positions between views.

If you are creating multiple Wall Views that do not display items (such as dashboards), the same Wall attribute can be reused, as item positioning is not required in these scenarios.

Note: Scrollable wall views are available in SharpCloud v9.3.0611 and later

Scrollable Wall View

The Wall View includes a scrollable feature that enables an effectively infinite canvas, allowing users to zoom out to expand their workspace and zoom back in to focus on specific areas. Users can also pan across the canvas to navigate between different sections. This feature can be enabled in View Setup.

Navigation Controls

Desktop (Mouse/Trackpad)

• Pan: Hold Shift + Left Click and drag

• Zoom: Hold Shift + Scroll Wheel (or drag on trackpads)

Touch Devices

• Zoom: Pinch to zoom in or out

• Pan: Drag to move around the canvas

Zoom to Fit

• Right-click (or long press on touch devices) and select “Zoom to fit” to automatically adjust the canvas so all items are visible
