Column View

Overview

Note: Parts of this feature are only available in SharpCloud v9.2.0226 and later.

Column View is a widely used visualization in SharpCloud for displaying and comparing numeric attributes or properties. It can present data at item level, category level, or grouped by specific attributes, making it ideal for analysis and comparison.

Only numeric attributes can be visualized in Column View.

Types of Column Charts

There are two main types of column charts:

Simple
Displays selected numeric attributes at an item level. Multiple values can be shown across multiple items for direct comparison.

Grouped
Groups items by category or a selected attribute instead of showing individual items. This allows for aggregated comparisons across groups.

Grouped charts also support a secondary chart. Clicking on a bar reveals a detailed breakdown of the items contributing to that value, enabling deeper analysis.

View Setup Options

The following settings apply to all column chart types (Simple, Grouped, and Secondary):

Value
Select the numeric attribute or property to display. Multiple values can be added.

Show Bars
Choose between side by side or stacked bars. Side by side displays values next to each other, while stacked combines them into a single bar.

Order By
Sort items by None (alphabetical), Value Ascending, or Value Descending.

Show Labels
Display value labels on each bar.

Switch Fill and Border Colour
If attributes have predefined colors, these appear as border colors. This option swaps fill and border colors.

Hide Empty Values
Removes items with no values to simplify the chart.

Hide Chart Total
Hides the total value (based on the primary value) displayed in the top right corner.

Grouped Chart Settings

These settings apply when using grouped charts:

Group By
Select an attribute to group items. By default, grouping is by category.

Split Bars By
Further divides bars based on another attribute. This overrides multiple value selections.

Show Bars
Choose stacked or side by side for split bars.

Secondary Chart Settings

These settings apply to the secondary (drill-down) chart:

Background Color
Set bar colors using category, an attribute, or a custom color.

Value
Select a different numeric attribute for the secondary chart if needed.

Order By
Group or organize bars by a selected attribute.

Sort Direction
Sort values alphabetically, ascending, or descending based on the selected value.
