Why task duration/finish dates don’t change with RiskProjectAddDelay

 

The RiskProjectAddDelay function does not modify the task you reference.

Instead:

• RiskProjectAddDelay(PrecedingTask, DelayLength, DelayCost) adds a new task after PrecedingTask completes.

• The new task occurs only in iterations where the risk happens.

• The referenced task’s own duration and finish date remain unchanged.

• Effects appear on successor tasks: their start and finish dates are delayed in those iterations.

• If the referenced task is on the critical path, the added delay may propagate to summary tasks and change overall durations/finish dates.

Tip: Look at successor tasks and summary tasks to see the impact of added risk delays.
