Calculation change to Manual While Browsing

To make browsing work properly, @RISK will put Excel into Manual calculation mode.

• If you were in automatic calculation mode before Browse Results:
  • you will be in Automatic again when you close that window, or if you change it from a call out to a floating window.
    • To make that change, click the last icon at the bottom — see illustration to the right.

 

Calculation Change to Manual During a Simulation

@RISK intentionally sets the Calculation mode to during a simulation.

Before the simulation, @RISK notes the calculation mode, and after the simulation is completed, @RISK restores that mode.

NOTE: Excel's calculation mode is a global setting but is also stored in each workbook.

If the first workbook you open is in Manual Calculation, then all later workbooks opened in that Excel session will also be in Manual Calculation.

• Any saved workbook will include the current calculation option, with effect the next time you open that workbook in Excel.

Best Practice:

Before starting a simulation, it is recommended that you check the calculation mode after opening your workbook(s).

1. Click Formulas » Calculation Options OR
2. Click File » Options and look at the first section of the Formulas category.

If you find you're in Manual Calculation and you want to be in Automatic Calculation, change it and save every workbook.

• You may need to change something in each workbook.
• Options are not always saved if there were no actual changes to the workbook.
