Running @RISK and DTS Products on Standard User Profiles

Question
Can @RISK and other DTS products run on a standard user profile without administrative rights?

 

Answer
Yes. Running the software generally requires only a standard Windows user account with limited permissions.

 

Running the Software
To run @RISK or other DTS products, a typical user must be able to:

• Create files in the system TEMP folder

• View the folder where the software is installed

• Read and write to HKEY_CURRENT_USER in the Windows Registry

 

Installing the Software
Installing the software requires full administrative rights, including:

• Writing to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE in the Registry

• Adding or changing files in the Windows system folders

• (Other admin-level tasks)

If your account is limited, have an IT administrator perform the installation.

 

Activating the Software

• Activation is required for standalone versions and Enterprise workstations.

• We recommend activating under the same admin account used for installation.

• Once activated, all Windows accounts on that machine can run the software.
