Why doesn’t the @RISK Project button appear?

Issue:
After launching @RISK, you don’t see a Project icon or button.

Explanation & Solution:

• @RISK for Project has no separate desktop or Start Menu icon. The Project button appears on the @RISK tab in Excel’s ribbon, under Tools.

• If Excel isn’t wide enough, only a Tools button shows; click the drop-down arrow to access Project.

Check the following if the Project button is missing:

1. Microsoft Project missing or incompatible: Ensure your Project version is compatible with your @RISK version. See Windows and Office Versions Supported by Palisade. Installing a compatible Project version after @RISK is enough; no reinstall needed.

2. Edition of @RISK: Project integration requires Professional, Industrial, or DecisionTools Suite. Standard edition doesn’t include it. Contact sales to upgrade.

3. Project version upgrade: If the button disappeared after upgrading Project, @RISK may still reference the old version. Edit the system registry as described in Which Version of Project is Opened by @RISK?

4. File association (.MPP files):

   • Close Project and Excel. Double-click an .MPP file—it must open Project.

   • If not, right-click → Open With → select Microsoft Project → check Always use the selected program.

   • Alternatively, in Control Panel → Default Programs → Associate a file type or protocol with a program, locate .MPP and ensure it points to the correct Winproj.exe for your Office version (Office12–16).

After these steps, restart Excel and the @RISK ribbon. The Project button should appear.
