Step 1: Turn on Org Value for Custom Parameter Substitution

1. From the Admin Tools menu, select Config Variable Browser. 
2. Search for d2l.Tools.Lti.CustomParamSubstitution.IsEnabled and ensure its Org Value is set to On.

Step 2: Tool Registration

1. Click on the Admin Tools (gear) icon, then click Manage Extensibility.
2. Click on the LTI Advantage tab, then click Register Tool.
3. Choose Standard.
4. The Enabled toggle should be on.
5. Enter the following information in the Register Tool form: 
   1. Name: (Example: Experiential Learning Cloud LTI 1.3 External Tool - this tool will be used for all deployments, so it does not need a program-specific name).
   2. Description: (Example: LTI 1.3 External tool for Experiential Learning Cloud - this tool will be used for all deployments, so it does not need a program-specific description)
   3. Domain: https://schoolcode.lumivero-elc.app
   4. Redirect URLs: https://schoolcode.lumivero-elc.app/sso/lti13
   5. OpenID Connect Login URL: https://schoolcode.lumivero-elc.app/sso/lti13
   6. Target Link URI: https://schoolcode.lumivero-elc.app/sso/lti13
   7. Keyset URL: https://schoolcode.lumivero-elc.app/sso/lti13/jwks
      • NOTE: you will need to replace "schoolcode" in the above URLs with your own school code. The school code is the prefix to your Experiential Learning Cloud instance. 
        • For example, in a URL of abc.lumivero-elc.app or abc.edu, abc would be the school code. 
6. Check Box for Assignment and Grade Services
   • This setting only needs to be enabled if the program(s) utilizing the tool intend to use the Grade Passback feature to streamline grading between Experiential Learning Cloud and D2L.
7. Within Roles, check the Send Institution Role checkbox.
8. Do not add any Substitution Parameters or Custom Parameters at this time.
9. Click Register 
   1. Upon registering the tool, copy each of the Brightspace Registration Details in the popup, and save them to send to your Implementation Specialist, along with the Deployment information you will configure below. 

Step 3: Create New Deployment

(NOTE: You will need to repeat these steps for each program)

1. Find the new Experiential Learning Cloud tool in the list of LTI Advantage tools and click on it.
2. Scroll all the way down and click View Deployments.
   • NOTE: You will need to create a separate deployment for each program your university has set up in Experiential Learning Cloud. Your Implementation Specialist will tell you how many to create and with which names.
3. Under the LTI Advantage tab, click New Deployment. 
4. The Enabled toggle should be on.
5. Leave Auto Migrate Links off. 
6. Enter the following information in the Deploy Tool form:
   1. Tool: Select the Experiential Learning Cloud tool per the name that you created in step 2. 
   2. Name: Experiential Learning Cloud LTI 1.3 - [Program Name]
   3. Description: (Example: Experiential Learning Cloud - [Program Name] Deployment)
7. Check Box for Assignment and Grade Services
   • This setting only needs to be enabled if the program(s) utilizing the tool intend to use the Grade Passback feature to streamline grading between Experiential Learning Cloud and D2L.
8. Check the following options within Security Settings: 
   • Org Unit Information
   • User Information (this will check additional boxes below it, leave those checked).
   • Link Information (this will check additional boxes below it, leave those checked).
9. Within Configuration Settings
   • Check Open as External Resource.
   • Auto Create Grade Items 
     • This setting only needs to be enabled if the program(s) utilizing the tool intend to use the Grade Passback feature to streamline grading between Experiential Learning Cloud and D2L.
10. Custom Parameters
    1. Click + Add Custom Parameter
    2. Name: program
    3. Value: program name (this value will be given to you by your Implementation Specialist)
11. Make tool available to:
    • Add Org Units
    • Which organization units you need to add here depends on how you’ve configured the organizational hierarchy of your D2L Brightspace instance. You will need to add the organizational unit that, at the least, includes all courses for the program of each deployment.
12. Click Create Deployment
13. Copy and send the Deployment ID to your Implementation Specialist (and specify which Deployment ID corresponds with which program, if you have configured multiple deployments)

Step 4: Create A New Link

(Note: you will need to complete these steps within each deployment for that deployment's program)

1. Find the new Experiential Learning Cloud tool in the list of LTI Advantage tools and click on it.
2. Scroll down and click View Links.
3. Click New Link.
4. Enter the following information in the Create Link form:
   1. Name: Experiential Learning Cloud LTI 1.3 - Program Name
   2. URL: https://schoolcode.lumivero-elc.app/sso/lti13
   3. Description: (Example: Experiential Learning Cloud - [Program Name] Link)
5. Type: Basic Launch
6. At this point, you should see the custom parameter created in the deployment, leave this as is. 
7. Click Save and Close
