Creating Relationships with Forms

Overview

Forms in SharpCloud can be used not only to create or update items, but also to define relationships between them. Adding relationship fields to a form enables users to capture meaningful connections between items, enriching the overall data model.

Note: This feature is available in SharpCloud v9.1.0116 and later.

Adding “Related To” Fields to a Form

To enable relationship creation through a form:

• Open Manage Forms via the Story menu dropdown

• Select the form you want to edit

• Click Select fields to show

In the field selection dialog:

• Scroll to the Related fields (listed alphabetically)

  •

• Select one or more Related [Category Name] fields

Each category in your story will have a corresponding Related field. For example, if your story includes categories like Processes, Risks, and Technologies, you can add each as a relationship option in the form.

Configuring Relationship Fields

Once added, these fields can be customised just like other form fields:

• Display Name – Rename for clarity

• Default Value – Predefine selections if needed

• Required – Ensure users must complete the field

• Hidden – Hide the field while still applying a preset value

Finalising the Form

After configuring the required relationship fields:

• Click Save and Close

The form is now ready to create items with defined relationships, allowing users to contribute richer, more connected data.
