Introduction

 

In @RISK v8.12 and earlier, all Time Series periods inherit the same name from the RiskName function, making it difficult to distinguish individual periods in outputs like Tornado charts.

 

From v8.13 onward, you can assign custom labels to each Time Series period for clearer reporting and analysis.

What Changed in v8.13
You can now define a Name (labels for each period) and a Category (group name for the entire series) in the Define Time Series window. The model uses RiskName() for labels and RiskCategory() for grouping. These labels appear in charts and the Model List.

How to Label Time Series Periods

1. Select a Time Series cell or an empty cell
2. Open the Define Time Series window, and set the Name field to a range containing period labels.
3. Use Category to define the overall series name, then click OK.

The Time Series graph will display labels on the x-axis, and the Model List will show distinct names per period grouped under the category.

 

 

Adding Labels to Historical Data
In the Define Time Series window under General fields:

• use Synchronization to align with existing data
• Sync Range to define historical data
• Labels to assign names.

These labels will also appear in the graph.
