Experiential Learning Cloud: Video Assignment Troubleshooting

Overview

Videos submitted to ELC sometimes get stuck in “processing” status. Preparing your file in a compatible format before uploading can help prevent delays.

File Requirements

• Maximum file size: 2 GB
• Accepted file types: .mp4 or .mov
• Videos must include audio; silent videos or audio-only files will not process

Recommended Video Format

• Container: MP4
• Video codec: H.264
• Audio codec: AAC

Preparing Your Video

Many videos recorded on smartphones or computers are in .mov format and may use the HEVC (H.265) codec. To reduce processing issues, videos may need to be converted to MP4 (H.264/AAC).

Generic Conversion Guidelines:

1. Open a video conversion tool of your choice.
2. Load the video file.
3. Set the output format to MP4.
4. Make sure the video codec is H.264 and the audio codec is AAC.
5. Adjust resolution or bitrate if needed for faster processing.
6. Save the converted file for submission.

Device Settings to Reduce Future Issues

• iOS devices: Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible. This ensures videos record in H.264 for better compatibility with ELC.
• Android devices: Check your camera or recording app for a “standard” or “compatible” format (typically MP4 with H.264).

Tips for Smooth Submissions

• Keep filenames simple (letters, numbers, dashes).
• Large files may take longer to process; reducing resolution or bitrate can help.
• Verify your video includes audio before submission.
