Always build assignments in a class template, then copy them to class sections each term. You can update the template between terms as needed.

How to Create a Class Template

Go to the Program Management | Staff & Students environment.
Select the Groups tab on the left side of the screen
Select the (+) icon in the upper right corner of the table to create a new class
Within the details tab of the new group, set the group type to Class Template
Include the course number and course name within the details tab of the template
Do not include course sections or course terms in the template, since the template should be used repeatedly - not just for one section or one term.
Skip the “Staff & Students” tab - there should never be students in a class template.
Go to the supervision tab and give an Instructor Supervision Over the template
Go to the assignments tab and begin building assignments

Assignments should always be built in a class template. From there, you’ll be able to copy them to multiple class sections, each term.

You can always return to your class templates to make updates to your assignments between terms.
