Decision Tools Software and Visual Basic

There are 2 Visual Basic products from Microsoft:

1. Visual Basic for Applications, which is part of Microsoft Office
2. The Visual Basic 6 Runtime, which is part of Windows.

Both are needed for most of the DecisionTools Suite products.

All DecisionTools Suite products except the DecisionTools Suite Custom Runtime use Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).

In a normal install of Office, VBA is installed automatically.

Sometimes, during a custom install of Microsoft Office, the choice may be made to exclude VBA. Excel installed without VBA is not compatible with the DTS add-ins.

Confirm VBA Installation

To make sure you have VBA installed, launch Excel and press Alt+F11.

1. If the Visual Basic Editor comes up, VBA has been installed.
2. If it does not, close Excel and enable that feature in Office following the steps below (the exact steps in your version may vary slightly)
   1. In Control Panel » Programs and Features, locate Microsoft Office, right-click it, and select Change.
   2. On the next panel, select Add or Remove Features.
   3. Under Office Shared Features, set Visual Basic for Applications to Run from My Computer. Click Continue.
   4. The installer may or may not prompt you to restart Windows.
