DTS Error: "Timeout creating the named pipe"

Restart Windows, ensure FLEXnet Licensing Service is running, allow PalFlexServer6.exe, repair/reinstall DTS, update Excel, check hardware if needed.

Error:

Authorization failure
Details: Timeout creating the named pipe \\.\pipe\RPC pipe for PalFlexServer(X).exe, processId=0

Solutions:

Restart Windows – a full reboot often fixes temporary issues.
Check FLEXnet Licensing Service:
- Press Win+R, type services.msc, Enter.
- Find FLEXnet Licensing Service.
- Startup Type should be Manual.
- Status should be Started.
  - If blank, right-click → Start.
  - If it doesn’t start, refresh (F5) or repair DTS software.
  - If still fails, uninstall/reinstall as admin.
Permissions – ensure your system allows PalFlexServer6.exe to run.
Excel 2007 Users – install latest Service Packs and repair Excel.
Hardware check – errors may occur if the hard drive is failing.
