Top Rank/WhatIf Error: "Risk.xla cannot be found"

Error '...\Risk.xla' occurs if Excel's default folder is a network drive. Change it to a local folder or start @RISK before TopRank/WhatIf.

Applies to: TopRank 5.x–7.x and WhatIf in @Risk 8.10 or later

Error: '...\Risk.xla' cannot be found

Cause: Excel’s default file location is set to a network folder.

Solutions:

Change Excel default file location to a local folder
- File → Options → Save → Default file location → choose a local folder.
Open @RISK before TopRank or WhatIf
- TopRank → Utilities → Load DecisionTools Add-In → @RISK.
- Or start @RISK from its desktop icon, then launch TopRank/WhatIf.
Optional: Set Excel to start @RISK automatically on startup (see “Opening Software Automatically Whenever Excel Opens”).
