Automatically Placing @RISK Result Statistics in a Spreadsheet

Is there a way to have result statistics from an @RISK simulation placed in a specific location of a spreadsheet automatically at the end of a simulation?

Yes. @RISK provides built-in statistic functions that allow simulation results to be written directly to worksheet cells after a simulation completes.

 

Details
Statistics for any cell—including:

• @RISK input distributions

• @RISK output cells

• Standard Excel formulas

can be reported using the statistic functions

 

Solution Steps:

In the @RISK menu:
Go to Insert Function » Statistic Functions » Simulation Result

Example:

=RiskMean(A1)

This formula returns the simulated mean of cell A1 across all iterations.

 

Input Distribution Options
For cells containing @RISK distributions, you can choose between:

• =RiskMean(A1) – Returns the simulated mean for the most recent run

• =RiskTheoMean(A1) – Returns the theoretical mean of the distribution

 

Key Differences

• RiskMean values vary slightly between simulations and are only available after a run.

• RiskTheoMean always returns the same value and does not require a simulation to be run.

 

Calculation Timing

• Statistic functions calculate after the final iteration by default (configurable in Simulation Settings).
