Payoff Calculation After Converting Influence Diagrams to Trees

When you create a new decision tree in PrecisionTree, the default payoff calculation is Cumulative Payoff, meaning the tree rolls up values along each path automatically.

When you convert an influence diagram to a decision tree, PrecisionTree changes the calculation method to Payoff Formula.

• This is because each node in the influence diagram may have specific, node-level values or formulas.
• Since there is no single cumulative formula that applies uniformly to all converted nodes, the software leaves the path calculation as Payoff Formula, with no default formula provided.

This behavior is normal and not an error.

You can manually adjust the payoff formulas for the paths if needed, but the conversion preserves the original influence diagram’s structure and node values.
