Finding and Editing the Palisade Options File

 

Question 1

How can I find and edit the Palisade options file?

Answer

1. Open Server Manager and click Open .LIC FOLDER.

2. The options file is named Palisade.opt.

3. Edit it with Notepad or any plain-text editor—but first make a backup.

Editing rules:

• User names and computer names are generally case sensitive (except GROUPCASEINSENSITIVE).

• Feature names appear case insensitive, but treat them as case sensitive for future compatibility.

• Do not modify MAX_BORROW_HOURS lines; these are managed by Server Manager.

• A line ending with \ continues onto the next line.

• Lines cannot exceed 4000 characters.

• Comment lines begin with #.

After editing, click Refresh in Server Manager to apply changes. (Stopping and restarting the service also works.)

Question 2

How do I control the maximum allowed borrowing period?

Answer

Server Manager writes MAX_BORROW_HOURS lines in the options file:

• 0 = borrowing not allowed

• 24 × (1 + maximum days) = maximum borrowing period

Do not edit these lines manually. Instead, set the maximum borrowing period in Server Manager → Options.

Question 3

Can I specify a separate file for the license log?

Answer

• By default, logging goes to:
  C:\ProgramData\FNP\FLEXlm\PalisadeService.log

• This file merges two logs: lmgrd and vendor daemon (check (lmgrd) vs (palisade) prefixes).

To redirect the vendor daemon log:

DEBUGLOG +"c:\full\path\to\file.log"

• Use a directory writable by the Palisade License Service (usually Local Service).

• Stop and restart the service for changes to take effect.

• The + sign ensures the file is appended to, not overwritten.

• The Advanced Options → View command will not display this separate vendor daemon log.
