Background

Expedite class and group creation term over term by mass-adding users to groups any time after their accounts have been created.

 

How to Mass Add Users to a Class or Group

From the Groups Workspace

Watch the video and/or review the step by step instructions below for details:

1. Log in and go to the Program Management | Staff & Students environment. Then, navigate to the Groups workspace.
2. Expand a group in the list and then click on the Users tab.
3. Then, click on the Copy to other groups button. 
4. You will then see a dropdown containing a list of active groups to select from.
5. After selecting the group you wish to copy users to, click on the Copy users button. A confirmation modal will appear. Click on the Yes button to add those users to the group.
6. Once the copy is completed, you can then navigate to the group you copied to and click on the Users tab. The users you added will now appear. 
   • You can also confirm a user was added by expanding their user record and clicking on the Groups tab.

7. Alternatively, you can add users within a new group you've created by clicking on the Copy to this group button instead. You will then see a dropdown containing a list of active groups with students to select from.

8. After selecting the group you wish to copy users from, click on the Copy users button. Then, click Yes in the confirmation modal to add those users to the group.

9. Once the copy is completed, you will see the users appear within the group you are working in.  

IMPORTANT: You must first create the new group you wish to add users to prior to copying users to or from an existing group.

 

From the Users Workspace

1. Log in and go to the Program Management | Staff & Students environment. Then, navigate to the Users workspace.
2. Select one or more users from the table. Be sure to use the filters at the top to help narrow down your list of users.
3. Once you've filtered the table to show the specific users you want to add to a group, click the box in the upper left corner of the table to select all. 
   • Alternatively, check the boxes on the left side of each user's record to select group members individually. 
4. Once you've selected all users you'd like to add to the group, scroll to the bottom of the table and click on the Add # Usersto group button.
   • NOTE: You will only be able to add users to a group one page at a time, so it may be helpful to update the number of records displayed per page.
5. You will then see a dropdown containing a list of active groups to select from.
6. After selecting one or more groups, click on the Add to group button.
7. Once the action is completed you can then navigate to the group you added users to and click on the Users tab. The users you added will now appear.
   • You can also confirm a user was added by expanding their user record and clicking on the Groups tab.  

IMPORTANT: You must first create the new group you wish to add users to prior to selecting users to add.
