If the test email is sent successfully, your email connector is configured correctly and is ready to use.

   • If you do not receive your test email please check your Junk email address to make sure it's not there and if so mark it as not spam.

Troubleshooting

1. Test Emails Are Delivered to the Spam or Junk Folder

If your test email is delivered to the recipient's Spam or Junk folder, review the following recommendations:

• • Ensure your emails comply with the CAN-SPAM Act and email deliverability best practices.
  • Review the SendGrid Email Deliverability Guide for recommendations on improving email delivery.
  • Be transparent about who you are and the purpose of your emails.
  • Provide recipients with a clear and easy way to unsubscribe from future emails.

If you are using SendGrid, you can also enable subscription tracking:

1. 1. In your SendGrid account, navigate to Settings > Tracking > Subscription Tracking.
   2. Enable the option to allow recipients to opt out of future emails.
   3. SendGrid will automatically add an unsubscribe link to your outgoing emails.

2. SMTP Authentication Error

If testing returns the following error:

"The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required..."

Verify that the SMTP username and password configured for the connector are correct, then update the connector settings if necessary.

3. Gmail SMTP Authentication Issues

If you are using a Gmail account with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) enabled, your regular Google account password cannot be used for SMTP authentication.

Instead:

1. 1. Create a Google App Password by following Google's guide: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/185833
   2. Copy the generated 16-character app password.
   3. Use the app password as the SMTP connector password instead of your Google account password.
