How to Define Header Answers

Overview

SurveyToGo allows individual answers within a question to be defined as headers. Header answers are displayed as section headings within the answer list and cannot be selected by the respondent.

This feature is useful for organizing long answer lists into logical groups, making them easier to read and navigate.

Configure Header Answers

1. Open the question.

2. Navigate to the Advanced tab.

3. Click Answer Properties
   (see image).

In the Answer Properties window:

1. Locate the answer(s) you want to display as headers.

2. Select the Header checkbox for each relevant answer.

3. Click OK to save your changes
   (see image).

Result

The selected answers will now be displayed as non-selectable headers within the answer list. Respondents can view these entries, but they cannot select them as responses.

Important Note

Even though header answers cannot be selected, they still retain their answer indexes and are included in the answer numbering sequence.

When writing scripts that reference answer indexes, be sure to account for any header answers, as they continue to occupy index positions within the question.
