HTML Panels for Embedding Content

Overview

The HTML Panel allows you to embed external documents or SharpCloud views directly into your story using an iframe. This ensures users can access up-to-date content within the context of the story.

Embedding External Content

You can embed content from platforms such as SharePoint or Google Drive:

• The source website must allow iframe embedding
• Some sites may require whitelisting by SharpCloud (cookies, JavaScript, etc.)

Access Requirements

To view embedded content, users must:

• Have an account for the source system (e.g. Microsoft 365 or Google)
• Have permission to access the document

If not signed in, users will be prompted with a login link.

User Permissions

What users can do (view, edit, comment) depends entirely on the source system and the type of link or embed code used.

Creating an HTML Panel

To add an HTML Panel:

• Open Edit Item Properties (pencil icon on the right toolbar)
• Select the item
• Go to the Panels tab
• Click Add new HTML panel

• Paste the embed code or URL and click OK

Embedding a SharpCloud View

You can embed a SharpCloud view by pasting its URL into the Embed URL field.

• Choose which toolbars (if any) to display 
• The view will appear inside the panel

Enterprise (Template Use Case)

In SharpCloud Enterprise:

• Each view has a unique URL with a story ID and view ID
• Template views share the same view ID across stories
• Replace the story ID with [storyid] to dynamically display the correct view per item

Example:
https://my.sharpcloud.com/html/#/story/[storyid]/view/{viewid}

This enables panels to automatically show the relevant view from each item's source story.
