Editing Item Data Description

Overview

Once items are created, there are multiple ways to update data to keep your story accurate and up to date. These include using the Edit Panel, Data Grid, Quick Editing, Item Panels, and Forms.

Edit Panel

The right-hand Edit Panel allows quick updates to one or more items. After selecting an item and opening the panel, key areas include:

• Information – Name, Category, Published status

• Images – Add or update item images

• Click Event – Assign click actions

• Attributes – Edit attribute values (calculated values are view-only)

• Relationships – Add or modify relationships

• Tags – Create and assign tags

• Panels – Manage item panels

• Resources – Add supporting resources

Data Grid

The Data Grid is ideal for bulk editing:

• Double-click a cell to edit (Excel-style)

• Changes automatically reflect in views

• Use Fill Down to quickly copy values across multiple items

Quick Editing

Quick Editing enables updates directly from an item’s context menu:

• Access via right-click, double-click, or long press

• Use Select Properties to customise which fields appear

• Rename fields using Display Name for better context

Note: Quick Editing is available from SharpCloud version 9.7.0201 and later.

Panel Editing

You can also edit data directly within an Item Panel:

• Open the relevant panel

• Click the edit (pencil) icon in the top-right

• Update and save changes, which sync across the story

Additional Option

• SharpCloud Forms can also be used to update item data (covered in a separate article)
