Attribute Groups

Attribute Groups allow you to organise attributes into custom groupings, making them easier to find and manage. This helps structure your data in a way that aligns with your business needs.

If attributes are not assigned to a custom group, they are automatically grouped by data type (such as Date, Number, or List). Category and Sub-Category always remain separate and appear above attribute groups for easy access.

A default group called Property is created by SharpCloud. This includes system-generated attributes such as Number of Relationships, Resources, and Tags.

Only attributes relevant to a view will be available for selection. For example, location-based attributes will not appear in views where they are not applicable.

Note: Attribute group names are case sensitive.

Creating Attribute Groups

You can create attribute groups for both Items and Relationships.

1. Go to Story Setup

2. Navigate to the Items or Relationships tab

3. Open the Attributes tab

4. In the Group column, enter the name of the group for each attribute

You can also use copy, paste, and fill-down to apply groups quickly.

Editing and Deleting Attribute Groups

To modify or remove attribute groups:

1. Go to Story Setup

2. Open the Items or Relationships tab

3. In the Attributes tab, locate the Group column

• To edit: Double-click a cell and update the group name

• To delete: Clear the group field using backspace or delete

Note: To remove a group entirely, you must clear the group field for each attribute assigned to it.

Impact on the Data Grid

Attribute groups affect how columns are displayed in the Data Grid:

• Grouped attributes appear first, sorted alphabetically by group

• Attributes within each group are also sorted alphabetically

• Ungrouped attributes appear after grouped ones

When selecting columns, grouped attributes appear in the format:

Group Name.Attribute Name

This format is also used in Table Views and Form field selection.
