How to Install Jaspersoft Studio

 

Overview

Jaspersoft Studio is the report writing tool used to design custom report templates for Predict! Risk Reporter. It must be installed on each client machine used to create or modify report templates.

Notes

1. Only the version of Jaspersoft Studio included with the Risk Reporter installation media is supported.
   1. Templates created in newer releases may not run correctly in Risk Controller.
2. Run the installer as a standard user.
   1. When prompted for elevated permissions, provide administrator credentials.
   2. Do not use the Run as administrator option.

 

Prerequisites

• A working Predict! Risk Controller 6 server installation
• Approximately 435 MB of available disk space
• The Predict! Risk Reporter installation media (SetupPRR.exe)
• A user account with a Designer licence in Risk Controller
• Folder names in the installation path must contain alphanumeric characters only — special characters will cause Jaspersoft Studio to fail

 

Install Jaspersoft Studio

• Close all other open applications.
• Locate SetupPRR.exe on the Risk Reporter installation media and double-click to launch.
• On the Welcome screen, click Next.
• Read and accept the Licence Agreement, then click I Agree.
• Select the Windows user account that will operate the application.
• Enter the Predict! Server URL and click Next.
  • e.g. https://predict.server.com:443
• Confirm or change the installation path.
  • required path: C:\Users\<account>\AppData\Local\Jaspersoft Studio-6.20.6
• Click Install and wait for the installation to complete.
• Click Finish to close the installer.

 

Upgrade from a Previous Version

Back up the Jaspersoft Studio configuration

1. In Jaspersoft Studio, select File > Export > Jaspersoft Studio > Jaspersoft Studio Configuration.
2. Tick the JasperReports Properties checkbox.
3. Save the resulting .zip file to a safe location.

Back up the reporting project folder

1. Right-click the project folder in Project Explorer and select Export.
2. Select General > Archive File and click Next.
3. Ensure all project files are ticked and set a destination .zip filepath.
4. Click Finish.

Perform the upgrade

1. Replace the existing rdqldatasource-full.jar with the copy from Report Design\Driver on the installation media.
2. Create the folder C:\Users\<account>\Predict\Risk Reporter\ if it does not exist.
3. Move the existing rdql.properties file into that folder.
4. If upgrading from version 6.0.2 or earlier
   1. Open rdql.properties
   2. Replace all property names beginning with prc5 with prc
      1. e.g. prc5.port becomes prc.port
5. Follow the installation steps above.
   1. The new version installs alongside the existing one.
6. Verify reports and configuration work as expected, then uninstall the older version.

Note:

Contact Risk Decisions before upgrading if any reports were created in Predict! 5. Templates require migration before use in Predict! 6.

 

Troubleshooting

• Installer prompts for administrator credentials:
  • This is expected behaviour. Provide the credentials when prompted and continue.
• Installation path contains special characters:
  • Rename the target folder to remove special characters before proceeding.
• Reports not visible after upgrade:
  • Import the archive backup via File > Import > General > Archive File in Jaspersoft Studio.
• Log files for support requests:
  • Stored at C:\Users\<account>\Predict\Risk Reporter\Log Files\, named rdqlNNNN.log.
