Error:

Could not connect to server

Cause:

NVivo was unable to connect to the licensing server required for NVivo activation.

 

Solutions:

 

1. WhiteListing
   1. The following domains and port number need to be whitelisted to allow NVivo to be activated via the internet:

      1. *.my.lumivero.com

      2. services.qsrinternational.com

      3. api-nv.qsrinternational.com

      4. login.qsrinternational.com

      5. activation.lumivero.com

      6. api-license.lumivero.com

      7. Port: 443

2. Manual Activation Request
   1. If whitelisting isn't possible or it doesn’t resolve the problem, the NVivo Support Team can assist with a manual activation of NVivo. Follow the steps below to send a manual activation request:
      1. Display the Activation screen. If it is not already displayed, go to File > Help > Manage License > Activate License (or select Activate Now on the Activation Reminder).
         1. Mac users can display the activation screen by selecting NVivo > Licensing > Activate and that they can take a screenshot by pressing command +Shift + 3.
      2. Click Activate via Email or Mail/Fax. 
         1. If you are unable to select these options, please try to activate the license and wait for the error message to be displayed.
         2. Once the activation has failed, you should see the Email or Mail/Fax options.
      3. Enter your details.
         1. Those marked with an asterisk ( * ) are required - First Name, Last, Email and Country
      4. Click the Generate button to refresh the Installation Key.
      5. If activating by Email, click the Send button.
         1. NVivo will generate an activation request email using your default mail client.
3. You can also take a screen shot of the completed Activate screen (Press Alt + Print Screen), save it and send it to Lumivero by creating a case from the Lumivero Community Home Page.
