Overview

The Assignment Scalability feature automatically creates duplicate assignments for students who have multiple active site associations. This ensures that each student completes the required assignment once for each placement they're assigned to without the need for manual assignment duplication. If this is enabled in a class template, the setting will automatically apply to that same assignment in all classes copied from that template.

When the feature is turned on, the system checks for students with multiple active placements and automatically creates copies of that assignment (up to the maximum number of placements any student in the course has).

How to Enable Assignment Scalability

1. Navigate to the assignment that needs to be duplicated.

• Expand the assignment details.
• Check the box labeled Duplicate for multiple placements.

NOTE: In order for this feature to work correctly, ensure that all students have their site associations configured before they are enrolled in the course. The system evaluates placements at the moment a student is added, so late placement changes will not automatically create additional assignment instances.

2. Confirm assignment duplication.

• In the class record, click the ellipses (three dots) next to the Add + button.
• From the dropdown menu, select Duplicate for placements.

• In the pop-up, click Add copies.

When Assignments are Duplicated

Once Add copies is selected, the system automatically checks for assignments flagged with Duplicate for multiple placements and creates copies equal to the number of active site associations that student has.

For example: if a student has 2 active site associations, they will see two instances of the assignment and can complete one for each placement. If another student has 3, they will see three instances (and so on).

NOTE: If the course is associated with a program, the system looks only at site associations for that specific program. If the course has no program association, the system looks at all active site associations the student has in the system.
