Citavi projects are associated with your Citavi account, not with a specific license. Because of this, you do not need to manually download and re-add your projects when switching to a new license.

To keep your existing projects when purchasing a new license:

1. Add the new email address to your existing Citavi account.
2. Set the new email address as the primary email address for the account.
3. Purchase the new license using the new primary email address.

Once the new license is associated with the same Citavi account, your existing projects remain available without any additional migration steps.

If you already have two separate accounts – for example, a campus account that is about to be deactivated, and a private license you've already purchased separately via another email address – the workaround via the primary email address no longer works, since a separate account already exists for the new license. In this case, the two accounts need to be merged by Citavi Support so that all projects end up in the remaining account. Please contact Support for this.
