NeuralTools Predictions Outside Excel

You can get predictions from NeuralTools in a non-Excel application using one of two methods:

Method 1 — Live Prediction (NeuralTools Industrial Edition required)

1. Train and test a neural network in Excel, saving it in a workbook (e.g., PredictionWorkbook.xls).

2. The workbook contains a Live Prediction cell, which updates automatically when inputs change.

3. Your external application:

   1.  starts Excel

   2. loads NeuralTools and the workbook

   3. writes input values via the Excel API

   4. reads the prediction from the Live Prediction cell.

Method 2 — NeuralTools Excel Developer Kit

1. Available starting with NeuralTools 5.5.

2. You can programmatically trigger the Predict command for new independent data.

3. Your external application still communicates with Excel running NeuralTools, but does not require Live Prediction.

Both methods require Excel to be running

• Method 1 relies on a continuously updating cell
• Method 2 triggers predictions explicitly from code.
