Using Excel While NeuralTools Is Running an Analysis

Question

Training and testing my network takes a long time, and running the Testing Sensitivity command takes even longer. During that time, I’d like to work in another Excel workbook. Is there any way to use Excel for something else while NeuralTools is running an analysis?

Answer

Yes. While NeuralTools is running an analysis, you can continue working by opening a second instance of Excel.

This allows you to open and edit other workbooks without interrupting the ongoing NeuralTools process. However, there is one important limitation:

Do not run any DecisionTools Suite (DTS) products in the second Excel instance.

Running DTS products in multiple Excel instances at the same time can cause conflicts or unexpected behavior.

 

How to Open a Second Instance of Excel

To open a separate Excel instance, follow the steps in Opening a Second Instance of Excel (refer to your Excel version’s instructions). Once opened, you can freely work on other files while NeuralTools completes its analysis in the original instance.
