Types of Integrations

As you start considering integrating Experiential Learning Cloud with your other systems, be sure to review the different types of integrations Experiential Learning Cloud offers and carefully consider which one(s) will meet your needs.

SSO (Single Sign-On) via SAML 2.0

An SSO (Single Sign-On) integration allows students and faculty to log into Experiential Learning Cloud with a click of a button rather than entering their username and password each time. Experiential Learning Cloud, in collaboration with your institution's IT department, can integrate with your institution's SSO provider (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Okta, etc.) through a fairly simple setup process.

Additional Information

• Great for programs that have an existing SSO setup for their students

• Great for programs that want to make it easy for their staff and students to access Experiential Learning Cloud

• Great for smaller programs without a lot of students or courses

LTI for Auto-Provisioning

An LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) integration allows your Learning Management System (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Moodle) to "talk" to Experiential Learning Cloud in order to perform tasks that would otherwise use faculty/administrative time and energy. By putting a special Experiential Learning Cloud LTI link in each class within your LMS, students/faculty can click said link to add themselves to the course in Experiential Learning Cloud and create a new Experiential Learning Cloud account for them (if one does not already exist). Additionally, Experiential Learning Cloud will automatically create a course section using the course information sent from your LMS and automatically copy the assignments from the corresponding class template in Experiential Learning Cloud to the newly created course section. This process is called auto-provisioning.

Additional Information

• Only works with an LMS (notably Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Moodle)

• Great for larger programs with a lot of students and classes or sections

• The setup process is fairly simple and requires collaboration with your LMS administrator

REST API

A REST API (Representational State Transfer Application Programming Interface) integration is a streamlined method to connect two different software systems, enabling them to exchange information effortlessly and securely. Think of it as a bridge that allows your SIS or CRM system and ELC to communicate and synchronize data.
ELC's REST API allows data to be transferred between platforms via GET, POST, PUT, or DELETE requests. These calls will need to be configured by your University’s IT team to specify when you will call the API and which operation will be performed on the data.
