Turning Inputs On/Off

You can lock inputs so they stop sampling during a simulation without removing or replacing the distributions. This lets you turn variables off temporarily and then turn them back on later.

You can lock inputs in any of these ways:

 

1. From the Model Window
Right-click the input and select Lock Input from Sampling.
You can lock multiple inputs at once using Shift-click or Ctrl-click.

 

2. From the worksheet
Right-click the distribution and choose Define Distribution.
In the Define Distribution dialog, click the fx icon (top right) to open Properties, then on the Sampling tab select Lock Input From Sampling.

 

3. In the formula directly
Edit the distribution formula to include the RiskLock() property function.

When an input is locked, it will always return a fixed value during simulation:

• the static value (if specified), or

• the expected value, or

• the value specified in Simulation Settings → When a Simulation Is Not Running, Distributions Return.

This makes it easy to run multiple simulations with different subsets of variables active, without rewriting formulas.
