Overview

When an assignment is intended to be about a student or assignee to be completed by a site supervisor or field instructor, there are several parameters of who can view the assignment and when.

IMPORTANT:

If the site supervisor also has a faculty role, they must make sure to complete the task/assignment in their Field Experience | Supervision environment.

How the assignment is completed

1. Student starts the assignment

1. Open the assignment and click Start.
2. In the submission window, select who will complete the assignment from the first dropdown
   • this selection auto-fills the signature line
3. Students should request the site supervisor only once.
4. The assignment status will remain Not Started until the supervisor opens and starts the form.
   • Students may send a reminder after the initial request.
   • Click Submit to send the form to the selected site supervisor/field instructor.

2. Supervisor receives and starts the form

1. The assignment appears in the supervisor’s task list and in their Communication Hub notifications.
2. The supervisor must open the task and click Start to begin.
3. If the supervisor is associated with multiple programs, they must select the correct program from the dropdown for the form to load.
4. Once the supervisor starts the form, the student’s view will show the assignment as In Progress.

3. Supervisor completes and submits the form

1. The supervisor fills out the form and must click the Submit button at the very bottom to finalize and share it with the student.
2. After submission, the task moves to the completed section of the student’s task list.
   1. The student will be able to view the document when its status changes to Waiting on or Completed.

Notes
- While the supervisor is completing the form, the student cannot access it; attempts to open it will show a permission message.
- The form must be started and submitted through this assignment workflow to remain tied to the assignment (starting or sharing the form outside this flow will break the link).
