Installing @RISK or the DecisionTools Suite End-User Software on Client Computers

 

Creating the INI File

1. Open Server Manager.

2. After activating a network license for the first time, or after changing the server name or LMGRD port number, Server Manager may prompt you to create the INI file.

3. If it doesn’t, click the Create Client.INI button.

Notes:

• You always need a new INI file if you change the server name or port number.

• If you’re just installing a new license, whether a new INI file is needed depends on the license type.

Client Installer Requirements

• The EXE and INI file must be in the same folder during install. This folder can be:

  • A network share

  • USB stick

  • Local folder

• After installation, the client stores the license server info in the System Registry:

  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Palisade\Licenses
  HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\FLEXlm License Manager\PALISADE_LICENSE_FILE
  

• The installer does not require the INI file afterward.

Special Cases:

• Some networks require a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or IP address. If so, edit the INI file before client installs.

Multiple Servers

• Multiple servers can use the same folder or separate folders for client installs.

Summary

• Always use a current INI file for client installs.

• The installer reads the INI and writes server info to the registry.
