Answer

Problem

When attempting to open a cloud project in Citavi 6 or Citavi 7, you get the following error message:

A connection to the Citavi Cloud could not be established. The project could not be opened.

Possible cause

The stored authentication token has expired or is invalid. As a result, Citavi can no longer authenticate with the Cloud API.

Solution

Log out of https://citaviweb.citavi.com and then log in again. Then, log out of the welcome screen in Citavi 6/Citavi 7 and in again.

If you are working with an older Citavi 6 version, please uninstall Citavi 6 (your data will be unaffected) and download the newest version under "Previous Versions" from the Download page.

If you no longer remember your password, click "Forgot your password?" to reset it.

Note

If the problem persists, please create an error log and send it to support. How to do this is described in the Citavi manual.
