Error:

"Method 'Initialize' of object '_RiskOL' failed"

 

Causes and Solutions:

This error could have several causes.  Try @RISK after a given step and if it works, you can ignore the ones that follow.

1. Check your Excel add-ins:
   1. If any other @RISK components, such as RISKOptimizer, are listed as active add-ins, make them inactive.
   2. Close Excel and try @RISK again.

2. In the Advanced section of Excel's options, verify that Use system separators is enabled.

   1. See This add-in requires Excel to use the system separators for details.

3. If you're running Excel 2013 or Excel 2016

   1. Click File » Options » General and remove the check mark from the last option, "Show the Start screen when this application starts."

   2. Click OK and close Excel.

4. Temporarily deactivate all add-ins except those that come with Excel.

   1. Close Excel and re-launch @RISK to test it.

   2. If @RISK now works

      1. Add each back, one at a time, to identify the conflict. 
      2. Note: There could be more than 1.

   3.  

      If @RISK still doesn't work, leave the other add-ins inactive while you continue with this procedure.

5. Follow the procedure in Removing Outdated References to Office from the System Registry to check for outdated references, and any that exist.

6. Repair Microsoft Office.

7. Repair @RISK

   1. If a repair doesn't help, do a clean uninstall and reinstall
