Customizing @RISK Reports and Creating Report Templates

If you are using @RISK 7.0 or newer, there are multiple ways to customize your reports:

1. Customizing Quick Reports

• Open Excel Reports in @RISK.

• Use the Custom Reports option to:

  • Edit, delete, or rearrange existing items.

  • Add new items.

• This may meet most reporting needs. If you need more control, read on for creating report templates.

2. Using Functions to Place Simulation Results

You can place simulation results in any worksheet using:

• RiskResultsGraph( ) – creates various graphs of simulation results.

• @RISK Statistics Functions – embed means, percentiles, or other statistics.

Note: Results inserted this way are overwritten each time the simulation runs.

3. Creating Custom Report Templates (Results That Are Not Overwritten)

To preserve results across simulations:

1. Create a Template Worksheet

   • Add a new worksheet in your workbook.

   • Name the sheet with the prefix RiskTemplate_ (underscore required).
     Example: RiskTemplate_Projections.

2. Design the Report

   • Use any combination of Excel formulas and @RISK functions.

   • Useful functions:

     • Statistic Functions: Insert means, percentiles, etc.
       Path: Insert Function » Statistic Functions » Simulation Results.

     • RiskResultsGraph: Create graphs in a cell.
       Path: Insert Function » Other Functions » Miscellaneous, or type =RiskResultsGraph( and press Ctrl+A for options.
       Note: Limited customization is available directly in the function. For advanced graphs, use the RiskGraph object in Visual Basic (Professional or Industrial Edition, 6.2 or later). See Help » Developer Kit (XDK).

3. Enable Automatic Report Generation

   • Go to Simulation Settings » View.

   • Tick Automatically generate reports at end of simulation.

   • On the selection dialog, tick Template Reports.

Result:
Each simulation run creates a copy of the template sheet with that simulation's results. The original template and previous simulation results remain unchanged.
