Problem

After importing references from another program or an online database, you notice that some references have alternate spellings for the same place of publication.

Solution

Use the Search feature in Citavi to find references that have an alternate spelling - for example, Calif. instead of California. On the Reference tab, correct the entry. Citavi may try to overwrite your change with an entry from the list of places. You can refuse to accept the change by pressing the Escape key. To save the new spelling, click in another field.

If only one reference had the misspelled or alternately spelled place name, this variant will no longer appear in the list when you add a new reference.
