Understand the network configuration required for Active Directory authentication

Active Directory authentication is supported when NVivo Server and the clients are on the same subnet as the domain controller.

We recommend you use Active Directory authentication, because NVivo client users will find it easier to set up their connections to NVivo Server. If the server and clients are not on the same subnet as the domain controller, then local user accounts must be used to set up the connection.

Understand where files are installed

The NVivo Server application and database files are installed to:

• C:\Program Files\QSR\NVivo Server 11

• C:\ProgramData\QSR\NVivo Server 11

NVivo Server projects are stored in the following location (you can modify this location after installation):

• C:\Program Files\Microsoft

Note:  These file locations may differ slightly on 64-bit machines or where C: is not the system drive.
