What is the Broken Reference Alert?

Error:

Cause

This message indicates that your survey contains a broken reference. A broken reference occurs when part of the script refers to a question that no longer exists or is no longer valid.

This most commonly happens after a question has been deleted or moved without updating all references to it elsewhere in the survey.

If you click Show References, a window similar to the following is displayed, showing the locations in the script that contain the invalid reference:

The first part of each entry (highlighted in blue) identifies the location of the broken reference in the survey. The text in parentheses indicates where the reference is located, such as a Start script, End script, or Advanced script.

The second part (highlighted in black) displays the script containing the broken reference.

To edit the script, double-click an entry in the list. SurveyToGo will open the corresponding script in the Designer, allowing you to locate and correct the invalid reference.
