How To configure and display interview data for operational purposes

Overview

SurveyToGo supports up to 12 custom interview fields:

• 6 String Custom Fields

• 6 Integer Custom Fields

These fields allow you to store additional information collected during the interview and make it available in the Operations Console for filtering, sorting, reporting, or other operational tasks.

This guide explains how to populate the custom fields in your survey script and how to view and use them in the Operations Console.

Steps

Step 1: Populate the Custom Fields in the Survey

Custom fields can be populated with values collected during the interview.

To do this, add the required script to an Expression question located near the end of the survey.

There are two types of custom fields:

• String Custom Fields

• Integer Custom Fields

Both use the same function. The only difference is the type of value passed to the function.

SetInterviewExtraField(eInterviewExtraField.inField, inValue)

Where:

• eInterviewExtraField.inField specifies which custom field to populate.

• inValue is the string or integer value to store in that field.

 

String Custom Fields

Use the following function to store a string value:

SetInterviewExtraField(eInterviewExtraField.CustomDataX, AnswerText());

Replace X with the number of the String Custom Field you want to populate (1–6).

Integer Custom Fields

Use the following function to store an integer value:

SetInterviewExtraField(eInterviewExtraField.CustomDataIntX, Answer());

Replace X with the number of the Integer Custom Field you want to populate (1–6).

Step 2: Configure and Use the Custom Fields in the Operations Console

1. Open the Operations Console.

2. Select Edit My Columns.

3. Add the required custom fields to the grid.

4. The custom field values can then be viewed, sorted, filtered, and used like any other interview column.

In the columns window, scroll down to the Custom Fields Columns and check the columns that you would like to add.

You can change the 'Column Name' by clicking on the 'Column Properties' pane.

Once you finish click on 'OK' and click on 'Get' to retrieve the data

Now we can use 'Group by' 

'Filter'

'Export'  - to either a flat Excel file or XML
