Sonia Forms: Exporting and Importing Form Designs

Introduction

There are a few reasons this feature is available:

• If you have been testing a form in your Test environment and are now ready to pull it into Production
• To share with another school, whether in your university or another

Exporting the Form Design

To export the form design, follow these steps:

1. Open the Forms module
2. Select the form
3. Click the “Export Template” button on the ribbon

A dialog box will appear:

Enter your university name if not already listed, then click the white paper icon at the bottom right to select a folder on your computer. The form will be saved as an XML file.

Exporting Forms with Custom Fields and Actions
If the form references school-specific data (e.g., Checks or Custom Fields), inform the recipient that this data will not be included when importing. They will need to manually update defaults, calculations, and actions to align with their own environment.

Importing a Form Design

1. Open the Forms module.

2. Click the Import Template button.

3. Browse your computer for the XML file.

4. Save the form.
