Performance Thresholds

Overview

SharpCloud performance can vary depending on factors such as story size, view complexity, and your technical environment (device, browser, and connectivity).

To help optimize performance, SharpCloud provides configurable performance thresholds that allow Story Owners to control how the story behaves under heavier loads.

These settings are available in the Performance tab within Story Setup (Create mode) and can be adjusted to improve responsiveness when working with large or complex stories.

Accessing Performance Settings

To configure performance thresholds:

1. Enter Create mode

2. Open Story Setup

3. Navigate to the Performance tab

Disable Animation

SharpCloud uses animations when transitioning between views or when items move (e.g., filtering or repositioning). While visually helpful, animations can impact performance in large datasets.

• You can disable animations once the number of visible items exceeds a defined threshold

• Default threshold: 500 items

• This value can be adjusted by the Story Owner or Admin

When to adjust:

• Working with large stories

• Performing frequent filtering or view changes

• Experiencing slow or laggy transitions

Tip:
Lowering the threshold effectively disables animations more often, improving responsiveness.

Limit the Tray

The tray displays items that do not fit within the current view or do not have values for the attributes being used.

• The number of items shown in the tray can be limited

• Default limit: 150 items

• This value can be reduced to improve performance

When to adjust:

• Large datasets with many unplaced or filtered-out items

• Heavy use of filtering or dynamic views

• Performance degradation when many items appear in the tray
