NVivo AI Cloud: Review and Refine the Analysis

Dashboard View

The Project Dashboard is the landing view for every project in NVivo AI Cloud: opening a project takes you straight here, and it is the view you return to when an AI analysis finishes.

The dashboard greets you, summarizes how much material the project holds, and shows four compact overview panels, each with a link into the section it previews:

• Code co-occurrence - This panel is a static overview of how the project's top-level codes co-occur: bubbles sized by how much each code is used, colored by code, and joined by co-occurrence edges. It gives you the shape of the coding at a glance without the cost of drawing the whole interactive graph on every project open.

• Coding by source - Where Top 5 Codes ranks codes, this panel ranks sources: it shows the most-coded sources so you can see which material has drawn the most attention. Each row shows the source name, a strip of colored swatches, and a count.

• Top 5 Codes - This panel ranks the project's five most-applied codes so you can see at a glance where the coding weight sits.

• Matrix overview - The Matrix overview previews the project's top codes as a small grid, with two tabs that answer two different questions. It is a fixed 5x5 preview with no scrolling and no interactive cells; the header link, Explore in more detail, is the way to the full matrix.

The Codes total includes approved codes only, matching the codebook's default view. The Sources total counts both manually imported files and Research Library sources imported via the Find Literature option.

Map View

The Map view shows you your top-level codes, which are sized according to how many excerpts they contain. If you select a code, you will see darker lines connecting to co-occurring codes.

If you develop child codes, you will be able to add them to the view.

The right-hand pane shows the excerpts in the code you selected in the map. You can resize the pane by dragging it to the left. You can review the codes directly in the pane – you will see the co-occurring codes listed. You can also code within that pane, and you have the option to use the AI-suggested codes to code on – creating child codes.

Analytics View

The Analytics view has two matrix tables:

• Codes by variable - you can select specific codes and use the drop-down for different variables. You can choose to have the numbers refer to the number of excerpts coded or the number of cases (usually respondents) coded. Click on a cell and you will see the excerpts below the matrix table.

• Code co-occurrence. You can select specific codes. You can also filter for a specific document or a specific case or for a particular variable. You can choose to have the numbers refer to the number of excerpts coded or the number of cases (usually respondents) coded. Click on a cell and you will see the excerpts below the matrix table.

Excerpts View

The Excerpts view shows all the coded excerpts. As you are able to code memos, you can elect to include excerpts from coded memos or not.

Steps to apply a filter:

1. Open a project and go to the Excerpts view.

2. Find the Filter pane docked on the right. It opens by default on Excerpts.

If it is closed, use the Filter toggle in the header to reopen it. Use the Boolean AND (All) or OR (Any) operators to filter the excerpts by particular codes, cases, and/or variable values.

3. In the CODES section, type in the search box to find a code, and select one or more codes.

The excerpt list narrows immediately to excerpts carrying that code.

4. In the CASES section, search for cases and select one or more cases.

The pool narrows to the sources linked to that case.

5. In the VARIABLES section, select an option, enter a numeric range, or pick a date range to filter cases (and therefore their excerpts) on that attribute.

6. Scroll the excerpt list to load more results. The list fetches additional pages as you go. Clear filters resets your code, case, and variable filters together in one action.
